I’m a Oakland, California-based journalist on the cannabis beat since 2013. I edit books based on marijuana cultivation and strains and spent years writing, editing and commissioning cannabis news as the senior editor of Cannabis Now Magazine. My first book, Weed: A Connoisseur’s Guide to Cannabis, explores how the aroma and taste profiles of cannabis can help us better understand the effects of the strains we smoke.

I’ve been a panelist at events such as SXSW and the New West Business Summit and was interviewed on KPFA, the first listener-supported non-commercial radio station in the U.S. I presented a lecture on cannabis to health professionals at U.C. Berkeley and have also contributed to publications including the San Francisco Chronicle and Alternet.

I started my career in journalism in a traditional newsroom as the editor of a community newspaper and still believe in the power of print.
